Flood-Gate® Automatic Backwater Valve
Our Flood-Gate® Backwater Valve completely seals itself during emergency storm conditions or when the building is shut down. Built for long service life, the valve's body is constructed of corrosion resistant Duco coated cast iron housing, a stainless steel gate, and PVC diaphragm. Engineered for drainage control in all commercial. institutional, residential and industrial installations, this valve closes and resets completely automatically without any manual intervention or need for electronic controllers.

Do flapper & ball type BWVs provide a 100% positive seal?

No. The ANSI/ASME national standard allows for a minimal amount of seepage around the flapper or ball. The purpose of a flapper or ball is to suppress the back flow. Therefore, if the back flow condition exists over a lengthy period, there will be water seeping into the building at the lowest fixture or floor drain. For a 100% positive seal, you need to specify a figure number 7140 FloodGate ® BWV.
